"Hypnosis" is the modern word for "trance". The trance state has been the central focus of mystical/magical exploration since forever. Calling it hypnosis is an attempt to disparage, or reformulate trance, or explain it away as a scientific curiosity, thereby neutering "occultism", rendering it impotent. If you're not actively working with trance states, what ARE you doing?! Reading? hahaha...reading...is good...
