  2. Opportunities missed...Consider: what better way to convey "American values" than via the internet! The US could intelligently force values of freedom on the world through its control of the internet, especially via the social networks. By encouraging an ethic, an atmosphere, of free speech, perfect tolerance, and adult behavior, the whole world could be ENTRAINED to its eternal prosperity! But, no, american values are not well represented in cyber behavior, as evidenced by rampant, seemingly unfettered, banning, de-personing, de-platforming, and de-fecating all over everybody. Where's this "US leadership" I hear so much aboutish?! I why does it never appear in example form!

  3.  @conveyor2  <--So what, you look for something to disagree with so that you can use it as an excuse to discount the whole point?! We can quibble about what constitutes "control". But English listeners ARE expected to parse responsibly. "Control" doesn't have to be "total"--would the words, "direction" and "influence" make you more comfortable?! Learn to parse.
