Trump's efforts with the Koreas makes me...misty; I feel a great upwelling of admiration for, not only Trump, but Kim as well. Kim's position is very difficult (and made all the more so by his genuine desire to elevate the lives of his people): How do you go about de-isolating a country?! Trump is well aware there will be many fits and starts as openness is tested and found jarring. Keep up a gentle pressure, and be ready to help. This will take some years to halfway accomplish, but Pompeo looks to be singularly well-suited for his task. The other world leaders appear to be extremely supportive of this effort. It's not really even about de-nuking as much as about reunification of the Koreas--that's what would really make the Korean people happy! And I am continually embarrassed at the dearth of American manners--people here don't understand how to deal respectfully with others. And this lack of understanding renders them less able to...think clearly, in general. The result can be unrealistic expectations, which, once not met, become emotional disappointments, which yields a tendency to expressions of frustration...violence of word or deed. Maybe you just have to reach the depths of bad manners before you can see the value of self-control in formal social circumstances (i.e. good manners). Americans like to flaunt their "freedom" to express themselves ("guaranteed in the constitution"). The realization that there can be no freedom without responsibility must eventually (could be a long road) dawn on them.
