So...you're saying both parties are corporate-owned. But the nature of ALL "ownership" is corporate, so this is a largely irrelevant observation, and expected. Nor is it unconscionable to be biased: my self-interest is not eradicable. It is the imperative of the life force, and the bedrock of my purpose. My life is colored meaningfully by my self-interest, and vitalized by that coloration.
The problem at play is that of private identity, and the capricious conception of it as "real". As Jordan Peterson might opine, "identity" is not something you own, or determine for yourself, but something conferred on you by others. The ideas of "privacy" and "identity" have to, somehow, be decoupled before we as a society can come completely to grips with the reality of instantaneous communications at our fingertips. The "digital age" will require us to, again, somehow, shed the idea of "privacy" as "secret information". We are moving inexorably in the direction of everything being "logged"/recorded, though not necessarily "known", until the recorded data is analyzed. No more "secret information" will be allowed to be possible (national security, terrorism, etc.). But this will have to be balanced by a commensurate development of "self-interest" safe-guards: everybody needs to be armed, and skilled with arms in order to be able to protect their self-interest, which includes, of course, one's life and liberty. IOW, people have to learn to respect each other--even if it's "the hard way". And the hard way might be the only way left after virtually everything about everyone is knowable, leading to an upwelling of disdain, one person for another. You have to leave me alone out of your own self-interest, since MY self-interest may justify me killing you if you don't.
