  1. People are starting to realize that, if they want different, more responsive and responsible, government, they have to up their involvement level: Populism! This is the natural source of populist sentiment, "involvement". Having left the matter of government largely to the "professionals" for so many decades, this professional class has become obnoxious, self-serving and manipulative. The potential glory of technology is its ability to facilitate involvement, since, I'd argue, we've left government to the pros for so long because we got important shit to do that doesn't leave the needed time! Tech can change that equation...if it's control should ever escape into the wild...
