  1. No, no, no...there's no conspiracy. Media producers want to make money; consumers want to connect with their roots. "Infantilize"? "Popularize" seems more like it. There's value in the images even if they're neutered for popular consumption. "Occult" values are likely to be uncomfortable for many people to entertain. The dumbed down version provides positive exposure to what would, otherwise, be "negative" ideas. Especially for children...In the late 50s, early 60s, there was a cartoon I enjoyed very much called, "Hercules", with a really engaging theme song which still, regularly, rattles around inside my head, so to speak. It made me...wonder...and that's a good thing!
