  1. Political power structures wax and wane quite naturally. The existential dilemma of "God" remains a feature of human experience, nonetheless. The old religions don't mesh well with modern understandings, so they fade...or morph to accommodate..."Religions" must integrate with popular experience in order to be vital, at least, politically.
