  1. The "laws" of physics represent the behavior of nature--to scientists. But the mode of execution of these laws is never addressed ("it's just the way it works"). "Mode of execution"? What's that? How does a law know to be enforced? Such response is ingrained in the structure of reality itself, just part and parcel--but that just BEGS explanation. The action of physical law is mitigated by intelligence; even more, the action of physical law is PERFORMED by intelligences of low/limited order, because ALL IS MIND, the universe is mental. Intelligence enacts/enforces/executes law. All this grimoire magick is about is navigating the hierarchy of intelligence that animates existence. That's why you may undertake to contact an underling to get something trivial done immediately, as opposed to going through its superior(s) in the hierarchy. But underlings are relatively stupid, and requiring one to do something outside its limited purview is a perilous pursuit, as the results would be unpredictable, possibly damaging or injurious. But persuading its superior could be a different problem: dealing with a greater intelligence requires at least comparable intelligence; otherwise, you may be spiritually captured/enslaved--essentially spiritually downgraded to the level of underling (until you manage, hopefully, to fully recapture yourself--it could go the other way, though, where you continue to degenerate until you've become a denizen of whatever sphere you've been serving in, losing your soul, so to speak). So, hey, a couple thousand years in the service of a "demon" can be valuable experience, I guess. But on a risk/reward basis, I'll pass, at least until my character is mature enough to resist the character of these spiritual intelligences. Amongst the various dimensional spheres, if I am not MASTER, I am slave--there are no tourists here.
