  1. The "trappings" are aids to the consciousness/concentration of the operator. Whatever is meaningful for you is potentially useful in this regard. There is an exception: the same trappings used REPEATEDLY in the same context/intent take on a power of their own, so to speak. The ritual, by constant repetition, over many years becomes instantiated as a quasi-autonomous energy being, again, so to speak. In such a case, the potencies embodied in the ritual may manifest to a small degree even when the ritual is operated incompetently. Don't underestimate the power of immersion to peak focus!
