Well, it makes sense that the dem party would try to steal the thunder of the "progressives"; appropriate from them what is positive, and leave them their insanity, violence, which would paint them in a very unattractive light, thereby marginalizing them. In the meantime the whole party shifts slightly more to the left to accommodate the less controversial elements of identity politics.
