"National security" is the justification for all kinds of secrecy; and secrecy is the real problem--national security is just an excuse to develop corruption techniques that leverage secrecy infrastructure. But secrecy seems to be becoming obsolete! You no longer need to know a secret, you can SURMISE it by triangulating many sources of information. Or, worse yet, you can set an AI collective to the task!
