  1. There's one word filmmakers know very well: propaganda! And they know it better than you do! A lot of the propaganda value of a film is not front and center; it's in the background and around the edges. This why film is such an effective vehicle of propaganda. What they did to "Snow White" was a jarring change, and, so, noticeable. What they do with the backgrounds and edges is not.
