"NATO" is an organization of mostly European states, whose militaries are also old, corrupt, and poorly maintained, as well as drawn thin by their contributions to Ukraine. NATO is no magical power; it's a couch potato! The "Russia is weak!" refrain is likely propaganda, as Greg points out, else they wouldn't be worried about "Russian ambitions".
