  1. I suspect the father, first, went to his daughter to convince her to spitefully deny the man's handshake and she said, "Let it go, dad". But dad couldn't accommodate his anger in any other way?! Gotta say, though, no violence, no loud speech in expression of anger marks a well-civilized person, and a worthy citizen!
