  1. It's true about the perceived necessity of telling us victims what they're gonna do. There's a little more to it, though: in order to be "harvested for the next round" you have to be either mostly "good", or mostly "bad"--anything in between doesn't make it. So, if you've decided to follow the bad path you'd best make sure you're really really bad, else you might not make the "bad" cut! The same goes for the good path--don't be too lazy or weak, else you might not make the cut either. Not making the cut, you are essentially spiritually recycled, losing your personal identity in the process--annihilation, apparently; dis-integration, actually. They fear not being bad enough, just like the Catholic fears not being good enough.
