  1. I'm still seeing no reason to doubt Gaetz when he says McCarthy didn't keep his word! Jordan says he did, but provides no detail at all, so I can't credit it. Single item bills was supposed to be one of the "promises" McCarthy made, and that ain't happenin'! And that's a really big deal!

  3. Jim Jordan can't talk very well--he talks loud but disjointedly. Concision is not his strong point. The Speaker needs to be able to "keep it together". Matt could do it--but he's probably not popular enough to make the vote.

  4. The Speaker's function is mostly organizational, setting work agendas and managing floor activities. If the position is vacant, I'd expect the House rules to specify a stop-gap appointment for efficiency's sake. Seems structurally clumsy to allow Speaker vacancy to stall all activity in the House.
