The mayor's idea of what is "appropriate" is a MATTER OF OPINION! What he meant was, "Use woke-coded specialty language when you speak to me!" Uh, FU! I'll use English, thank-you very much! There's a world of difference between "large gathering" and "mob" that the mayor seems to not understand. A "mob" is a special case of "large gathering" that behaves very differently from a "crowd", "group", or "gang", for instance. Political language is a language of gross generalization, rendering it incomprehensible and inapplicable to common sense meaning. It's the basis of the political power game: plausible deniability, greatly aided, as it is, by imprecise speech. The press's game has always been to break through that wall of incomprehensible verbiage to get a "sound bite", a short answer to a simple question that conveys a definitive bit of information. The press is not winning this game.
