  1. I can see how an analysis of the matter yields this litany of fundamental fears, so-called. But, that's not the individual psychological reality of fear at all. The detachment of the academic outlook misses some important features of the understanding of fear--in this particular case. But, generally, Jordan, being an academic, has the academic outlook...which has the effect of sterilizing the subject matter into a well-ordered greyness. Jordan's special talent is in his animation of the material in presentation, ameliorating that academic dryness by making it relatable.
