  1. "The goodness of God"? That's kind of a bad idea, implying God is only "good". This is a setup for the good vs evil canard, and the conception of a cosmos in conflict. This ideation denies the omnipotence of God. The God who is "good" is not the true God. The true God necessarily encompasses all that is. I also do not understand the group's insistence on the short-term perspective of a single lifetime when considering spiritual matters. Pain and privation serve a useful, or "good", purpose, as Jordan illustrated, countering the popular notion that pain and privation are not only bad, but evil, hinting at a failure of God to properly manage His Creation. I'm getting the impression some of these guys haven't really thought about this stuff very much...
