  1. Commonly, "faith" is what you call what you have when you are "confident", to the point of "certainty", about something. Faith is also something you DO. "Confidence" and "certainty" are "judgements" you perform. There's a further aspect of "faith", which is the character of "persistent expectation" as the method of practice of an indefatigable faith that your will will manifest in the "next" moment.

  2. "Manufactured fear" is none other than "terrorism"! The core of "fear" is the emotional response to the unknown we see when we look beyond our death. The atheist sees only a permanent nothingness, so his life is of supreme value to him. The religionist enforces a "somethingness" instead of the atheist's "nothingness", so his life's great value might be subsumed in something greater, after the style of "sacrifice".
