  1. "Unity, discord, or nothing is at the top..."...🤔 Since "nothing can not exist", how 'bout unity at the top and discord at the bottom?! God is both the design of existence and the substance of existence. At the top is the fully integrated; at the bottom is the fully differentiated--"God", in any case. At the bottom are the points or particles of simple, basic awareness--quanta of God. "Consciousness" is a complex of point awarenesses, as are all FORMS. Everything is conscious by virtue of its formation.

  2. "Pain and suffering" seems very "evil" to Jack AND Jordan! 58:55--"Being is so rife with suffering that it's inexcusable in its essence" is Mephistopheles's argument that plagues Jordan! It's the old, "if God is good why does He allow people to suffer?"! Seriously?! Your "suffering" comes about because and to the extent you think you are important. Pleasure/pain is how Nature teaches you what is right/wrong!! How do you take your lessons! Do you view "pain" as a corrective...and pleasure as a reward? Your response to your pleasure/pain is extremely FORMATIVE! All experience has a pleasure/pain component that has a great "rooting value"; a special dimensional connection that establishes the persistence of the value's influence/meaning in the developing self. Each experience forms and reforms the personal character, even at the most basic level, as experience is integrated.

  3. "Meaning" is contextual. The apperception of a "meaningless existence" mitigates against the greater context that would provide the greater satisfaction with life: God, in a word. But defined properly, God is the Substance of All Existence, at the bottom end, the "outsidedness", AND, at the top end, the "insidedness", God is the IDEA of All Existence, the pinnacle of every hierarchy, the most complete CONTEXT.
