The 10% of the population that is unacceptably unintelligent is the "fly in the ointment" of...everything! Like the one guy in a small boat of people who enjoys rocking the boat. The problem in a "free society" is what do you do with these people...do you try to take the fly OUT of the ointment? Do you "help" these people even against their will?! And I'd argue it's unethical to help them without their knowledge. Can they be allowed to refuse "help"!? These considerations end up handcuffing the "free society" in its own principles of liberty and the pursuit of happiness, resulting in this "can" getting kicked endlessly "down the road"!
