  1. What is the source of meaning? Meaning is value-judgement. We recognize meaning according to our individual proclivities, of every sort, in relation to what we perceive as the surrounding reality. The judgement operation by which value is discerned is memory-based, attempting to extract from experience the gems of understanding that are balanced against one another in the process of formulating a judgement. It is this process which is the essential nature of the individual.

  2. Try this, Jordan: instead of "low resolution", think "simplified"; because that's what actually happens when scientific rules of thumb are devised. Take the full, high-resolution mathematical expression of theory/behavior, and substitute assumed/default values for low-impact variables, which then simply disappear from the expressions, thereby much simplifying them.
