You weren't born with more brain tracks than the average bear! 😊What you see as "mind tracks" are semi-autonomous thought complexes you've developed by a very special attention to task management, processes and procedures of thinking, in particular, but of any articulation, in general. By relentless efforts at linguistic articulation you've formed a complex network of word meanings and associations to your experiential memory--which, incidentally, responds in "flashes" when "pinged". By the perfection of practice, you've created thought complexes, habits of thought that serve specific purposes. The "habit nature" is a fantastic power, after you've learned to make habits deliberately, purposefully--and break them, as needed. You're stepping into a Twilight Zone of real magic...watch your step!

No, anybody who uses language will have associations to word sounds in experiential memory. What they read becomes a monologue. It's unavoidable. I suspect a classically pop-science approach afoot. The data is self-reported, so of questionable veracity. That's enough to discredit the conclusion. At the level of emotion, communication is symbolic and fast. "Articulation" is the effort to associate emotional perceptions with word values. Some people don't find their way to the honing of this skill. This means such people will be internally inarticulate! They won't be able to speak about the things that go on in them that they don't notice because they've never named them!

"Internal monologue"?! How 'bout an internal DIAlogue! Or an internal round table discussion! You have to learn HOW to think by trial-and-error. Still, though, the process is not obvious, and may require a minimum level of intelligence to "click" into it, like those "Magic Eye" posters, where you stare at this mess of colored blobs until your eyes get tired enough to slip into a peculiar altered focus that reveals a previously-hidden image.
