  2. After a long stretch of prosperity, it'll take a little time for the bloom to leave the rose of government responsibility for that prosperity. But, after that, it'll be a LONG time before government regains enough respect to function in the way it likes: in the dark. When major politicians disdain their constituents they are playing on respect they no longer have! It looks like arrogance and disinterest--such kingly demeanor is properly understood to pose a threat to democracy! hehehe
