  1. You are perpetually identifying yourself in contrast to "the other", with reference to the authorities you've internalized. Every single person you meet, come face-to-face with, is necessarily internalized as an "authority"--it is "the other" which is like YOU, and, so, a comparable "identity". I guess, in a way, your ultimate external identity is an amalgamation of everyone you've ever met. But your internal identity accounts for the master amalgamator's--YOUR--activity in relating to your internalized authorities. It is an evolving creation, your internal identity, whose intended purpose is to discover the mystery of "self".

  3. Life is only "unfair" when viewed from the perspective of the expectation of perfection. If this is the only life you get, it doesn't matter in the least about fairness, or anything at all, for that matter, since it all goes for naught. If you get to reincarnate, the experiential lessons of life produce a "spiritual evolution", in which even a whole lifetime, or more, of "negative" experience can be immensely valuable to the individual evolutionary process...all experience is grist for the mill. I can't escape the expressed logic...can you?
