I think Trump's motivation comes from the realization that he, alone, is in a position to rescue America from a Marxist-globalist demise that would destroy western civilization if it is not stopped NOW! That is such a weighty realization that a natural man, like Trump, would be consumed with GUILT, should he decline the urgings of destiny. In such circumstances the man of honor has no other choice to make that he could live with.

  2. Journalism has long been appropriated by the elite to promote their narrative. When this influence was generally undetectable, it worked. The elite could steer sentiment apparently organically, but not nearly so easily, now. When the influence is detectable, the narrative decays, and the cracks show. Trust in the media is what made the whole thing work. Without that trust, the viewer's natural skepticism neutralizes the narrative's attractiveness, and the influence operation fails.
