  1. You make an excellent point. It's well to stay accurate, but, as you say, people who are too pedantic completely miss the point of the video. I noticed that sometimes on utube, people are much more interested in trying to find mistakes (and they are often wrong, anyway) than in taking in the actual subject under discussion!

  2. My dad told me about being a "shellback" in the Navy during WWII. He said that some of the old traditions were really brutal, but they just had to drink a lot and perform some stunt, I can't remember what it was. It was a definite moment where a sailor was considered a "real" member of the ship, though.

  4. Love to Bankok! My parents closet friends went there from Stanford University in California in the early 1960s to work at the University, they absolutely loved it there!! I grew up on stories they told all my life about it when they moved back home. They had five children and all the kids grew up to travel back there several times. They traveled the world for years, staying a year or two everywhere, but Bankok was the place they all loved and missed the most. Happy New Year!
