But...just by showing up there, they have forever changed the area in an existential way. No life form can fail to alter an existing environment completely by simply showing up, even if they believe they are taking all precautions not to, in a terrible, final, destructive moment, their appearance has destroyed the balance for the residents... A perfect example is god. He showed up, not intending anything but "good", wham! We get the atom bomb in a very short time (by gods time, anyway). Destruction was the inevitable outcome, no matter how many times the promise was given that nothing would change, that he is just observing, that there is free will. Just one visit caused more eventual destruction than anything before had ever done...even if you do not believe anything is out there, you are not an island floating alone in paradise on calm blue waters. You are in the eye of a hurricane....

@GatherYeRosebudsWhileYeMay I was using "god" as a historical example of a being that is often considered to be "perfect". It was an observation that I felt was a well known figure whom many think brought order and hope to the universe, but realistically, did nothing but increase the chaos. No matter how much we as humans try to sell ourselves on bettering the planet, we are a destructive force even when having no intention of it. You could use any conceptual religious form or even something like a meteor that crashes into earth, bringing bacteria and possibly cellular life forms with it. The minute it comes into our atmosphere, things are changed irreversibly.
