The cigarettes being ACTUALLY addictive but in denial about it was so successful that the big food companies knew declaring fats to be evil so they could make billions giving America loose bowels with "fat free" anything they wanted to sell, people would swallow (literally) anything marketed hard enough. It worked! Gatorade followed up by getting doctors to announce that you were dying of thirst unless you drank gallons of (their) fluid every single day, whether or not you felt like it or not...people started dying during marathons from water intoxication and water on the brain, etc., where tons of Gatorade was handed out every few blocks. Finally, the word got out, but there are still plenty of people who are downing dangerous amounts of water, thinking it's curing them of a lot of problems, when in reality, they are overdosing...too much water will kill you. Please google....
