Raise interest rates! Might hurt for a few years, but it would free up many properties. When properties start dropping in value the older generation will sell. Allowing the next generation of buyers to have a chance. Like, who sells when properties are increasing 25% every year. BTW, good seeing you again Eric!

Its also the real estate board using the media to build hype, when sales start to slow. . If Global news says there's a housing shortage,,,,who questions it? If the media says there's bidding wars, who questions it?. Its an old used car salesman tactic and everybody falls for it,, every time. It even worked during a pandemic!,,lol. Better hurry, before they're gone!

@Kungfupanda107 Real estate is not an investment, it's our homes. No "investment" is guaranteed, you knew that when you paid 850k for that 1963 bungalow. Sorry, it will hurt you dummies for a few years, but it will solve the problem.

@TH-tl6sy It will hurt for a few years, you're already "out of the market". On this path, in 5 years a 1963 bungalow will be worth 2 million in T.O and rent will be $5000 a month for a one bedroom apt. The older people are not selling, when they make 25% year over year. When I bought my first house (at 22 years old) back in 1997 there was 3 houses for sale on every street. I got it for 20k under asking. All old people. They won't sell until the market shifts. Lots of boomers holding on. To bad you can't see it.
