  2. The only reason Manafort is facing charges is because he became involved with Trump, briefly, during the campaign. Why wasn't he charged for money laundering 10 years ago? It wasn't until the hated Donald Trump came onto the scene.

The overall strategy of Mueller, the Democrats and the Deep State is twofold: First, they're looking for someone they can make sing, or compose (either works), someone who they can force into testifying that Trump is in the pay of Vladimir Putin, or some similar nonsense. They harass their victim, or his family, or both, to compel him to pay legal fees that will cripple him financially, if not bankrupt him, until they break him. This was done to Flynn and his now being done to Manafort, including in the latter case raiding the guy's home KBG-style with guns drawn, rousting them and their children out of bed before dawn. It's brazen intimidation. They pulled a similar, although less dramatic, stunt with Trump's lawyer Michael Cohen. Second, they're sending a warning to others that being connected to Donald Trump may be hazardous to your reputation, your finances and your freedom, thereby depriving the president of access to people he might want to have working in his administration. It's a nasty, ugly business, which is another reason that the president ought to shut it down.
