I've always been skeptical of FDR. I know lots of people love and loved him, but I remain unconvinced that he was all people make him out to be. I agree with your points. During WWII there wasn't too much compassion for the Jews in this country. FDR was worried that the American people might conclude the war was all about saving the Jews, which would have been a huge problem. Look up the German liner St. Louis some time if you'd like to know more. It's a good example of American apathy to Jews. Eisenhower warned against the problems of the Industrial Military Complex started during WWII. He was a visionary no one listened to. FDR wasn't a charismatic great leader that got us through our darkest days. He was more like a pompous socialist.

The only quote I remember from FDR that I like is his statement to the effect that "It doesn't matter who fired the first shot. It matters who fires the last shot!"
