(A woman who was sexually assaulted during her adolescence can't remember the details!?) Third, they were both teenagers. Fourth, the statute of limitations (if a sexual assault was indeed committed) ran out decades ago. Fifth, Ford and her husband underwent couples counseling some years ago. The records are available. Kavanaugh's name doesn't appear. Sixth, why wait until now to accuse him? Various conservative commentators have observed that when the gutter media reports on Trump they routinely attempt to undermine his credibility. It's a setup that forces Kavanaugh to defend himself against a negative, an impossibility. It's easier to spit than to wipe it off. The Left is counting on leaving a stain on Kavanaugh, even if Ford disappears in a puff of smoke. Grassley has put her and her lawyer on notice to show up by Monday to face Kavanaugh, or (I assume) retract the charge and (is it too much to hope?) apologize for attempting to blacken his name. Such charges, even when untrue, however, are believed anyway by a man's enemies or those who simply like to gossip.
