I confess that I don't get the dynamic of this campaign. The Democrats have put up a corrupt, scandal-ridden candidate without a track record who should be in jail and whose platform is to continue the policies of the worst president in the history of the republic. The mainstream media loves her. It's like a death wish. On the Republican side we have a candidate who is a complete original, who has addressed every issue that affects us, head-on, in plain language, who has proposed sensible measures to deal with those issues, and whose only evident flaw is being too spontaneous and wandering "off message." Will that one flaw override the substance of his entire platform? If the mainstream media get their wish, it will. A robust ad campaign will enable him to fight fire with fire. He can produce ads that are consistent and drum home his proposed policies as the campaign progresses. They can also attack Clinton very effectively. It has been suggested that James Comey's replies to Trey Gowdy's questions during the Congressional hearing provide enough material for an entire ad campaign. If Trump can target blacks, Hispanics independents and outliers with saturation advertising, as well as his natural base, he ought to be able to finish Clinton off. Meanwhile, we're well advised to remember Harry Truman in '48.
