  3. Trev: The song I was thinking about is more than 40 years old. In the 50s Gary was probably nice. Obviously you're not the only one who doesn't live there anymore.

  4. So what happened to Gary, Indiana? I thought it was a nice place. There's even a song about Gary. Are all the open spaces where houses were torn down? Good jobs gone south, I guess.

  7. Cosmo: I've known that song since I was a kid, but otherwise never gave much thought to Gary, Indiana. I just presumed it was a nice place. I guess it used to be, like so many other towns and cities in the US.
