  1. 1955 was a banner year for the auto industry. Output was spectacular. Most of it came from Detroit. To this day many cars from 1955 survive, but the place of their birth is a ghost town.

  2.  @sarjim4381  Plenty of blacks had good jobs in Detroit, too, before the exodus of the auto industry. GM stubbornly keeps its headquarters there surrounded by so many abandoned GM factories. I have no idea why. Those still employed, I'm sure, commute to upscale neighborhoods out of town.

  3. So many commercial buildings that housed businesses and job. School once full of kids. What a mess we've made of things.
