  4. Last night I opened the back door to fetch some firewood and there's a big raccoon finishing off the cat food we leave out for the stray that comes around. He was unphased by the light or the door opening. I shut off the light, closed the door, and let him finish his dinner with no one disturbing him.

  7. I think he raccoons are a little apprehensive. They're used to dad feeding them.

  8. Wow! Are these fat raccoons! I'd say they're well fed! We have 3 or 4 that come around at night plus 2 stray cats and an occasional possum. Whenever ours come around I think about Raccoon Whisperer! 🙂 Sometimes the raccoon and a cat wll eat from the same bowl. Apparently they get along.

  9. It's so nice to see people taking care of animals. We hardly have any racoons where I live these days. It seems they've just about disappeared. i see more dead ones on the road than live ones in the yard. I'd be happy to feed them, but they don't come around. A friend many years ago had dozens of them in her backyard at night for feeding. I do get deer and turkeys. They love corn.

  13. One of our cats likes hamburger meat, so I give her a small amount when making meatballs. Once my brother gas us meat from grass fed cows and the cat wouldn't' eat it. Racoons usually will eat anything, but it appears they don't like chicken dogs or turkey. The want the real thing.
