  1. Before the days of mechanical refrigeration, Titanic's builders used a system of fresh air ductwork to reach all parts of the ship. Plus those in staterooms had portholes to open. Titanic's cooling system apparently relied on humid, salt air from the ocean and probably not the best way to cool, but all that was available then. I suspect modern day cruise enthusiasts wouldn't enjoy a trip on the Titanic or any other ship of that era. Uncomfortable clothing and hot, incandescent light in the dining room probably wasn't much fun, either.
