  1.  @lukethomas.125  It's my understanding one tower didn't have an alternative stair case to use. I may be wrong about that, but I seem to recall hearing something about it. As for a sinking ship, the elevators seem like the last escape route to use but in a panic people often don't know what to do. At least with the Titanic, power remained on almost to the end.
