The house is at sale for $365 000…but it’s value was $229 983 just 2 years ago…that’s what is the problem, even if it was renovated, it is a difference of $135 017… just an advise for people wanting to sell their house, renovating should be just repainting in white your walls, clean and repair what is broken, remove your personal objects, remove excess furniture to make the spaces look bigger and for those who visite can imagine seeing their things there…maybe change and old toilet or stove fan to make a good impression of cleanness…because your taste is not the same from the buyers who have different taste, they will put their personal touch …and in this time we are, a lower price is more attractive then $100 000 renovation..if you put to much money in renovations you wont get it back the same amount, you will lose when selling at a lower price….good luck

@chrism8013 some people don’t have the potentiel to get better jobs…and when i say minimum wages, we can include also low wages paying just a bit more…

Living in a van, camper, RV or car is possible in the south…but up north they don’t even have this choice, in Canada to we don’t have this choice because of the winter temperatures…people have more roommates, stay with parents, low birth rates…sad situation…we all desperately need affordable housing and rentals…

One answer, repurposed empty malls….into living spaces because we lack housing and apartments…with stores that have essentials…make it like a village, can also be useful for retired and elderly people…

I prefer hybrid car, mine is Chevrolet Volt 2015, it have an electric battery but also can run on gas….i plug it at home, never get stuck somewhere because of Power, Best of both world, shame that they don’t make them anymore…

We pay more for rent or houses mortgage, more for electricity and other necessities, taxes, and our work pay check is not more…so we have to cut some where…and they don’t understand, they are in denial 😤…

Things don’t and up….companies want cheap labor, but people can’t afford rent, groceries, on cheap wages….there is always a breaking point when those at the top are to greedy…sad situation for the majority of people…

Some of the winners actually are landlords with their enormous rent increases, because of the lack of apartments and the high demand…this is a big part of the economy problem, people spend to much for a roof over their heads, what’s left after you pay the rent, the bills, the food…nothing so, nothing goes for the rest of the economy, …the rich man always underestimate the ordinary and poor man in his equation…to greedy to see.

I have a 2015 GMC Volt, electric but also gas and I love my vehicle…9 years and still no problems…I recharge it at home…I think hybrid car is a good option, gouvernement should push that first and that later maybe people will be ready for full electric…

What is lacking is affordable rentals for low income people, those big buildings are not appartements but Condo, low income people can’t afford a condo mortgage and fees…but entrepreneurs want to make condo because they get their money now and not little by little over the years…I understand that if you invest big money to build a building you want your investment back plus profits, we need gouvernement or municipalities to build low cost appartement that rent those appartements just to low income people…we need studios for single person, 1 bedroom, 2, bedrooms et 3 bedrooms for low family income…that would help stabilize the cost of living…it is not normal to have people sleeping in their car because they can’t afford a place to live even if they work, we need those low wages employees in various eras…low wages help companies to stay competitive, help things to cost lower, and small businesses to need employees that they can afford…but if it cost 60% or more of your salary just to have a roof over your head of course you will sleep in a car, or not consume anything but necessities…if to many people can’t afford to consume we assist at a downfall, recession,…i say build affordable low cost appartement with rules that prevent high income to be able to get one, it is urgent…not just in USA but also in Canada were I live, it is a problem in every big cities…

In Quebec/Canada, the price of gas is higher than in the US, and electricity is lower, so it’s cost less for electric car…I have one that goes both gas and electricity and I recharge at home…

The minimum wage increase is not the problem, the problem is companies won’t cut their profits and even more they want a profit increase to…so the products will increase until the breaking point that clients won’t pay…and flash news, companies prefer to sell less at higher price than the other way around, because of the cost of production, if you produce less it cost less to the company in salaries, electricity, machinery, packaging, delivery etc…so the most important thing for them is profits and it is normal it’s called a business…but that said, the clients have some power, it is buying or not.

We need more social apartments and affordable houses, 400 000$ is not affordable, we need small starters houses around 250 000$, In the US as in Canada it’s the same problem.

@chrism8013 i didn’t say that the minimum wages should be increase…i say sad economy…for those who can’t have better jobs they need affordable rental units…not luxury condos…but Small affordable studios that can fit their budget..if we look into Asia countries, they build many different kind of housing to fit all kinds of budget….you see, some people are handicaped, mentaly or physicaly, some are unfortunate and can’t work really, on public assistance, …landlords don’t like to many people in their rental units and many people can’t live with strangers, my autistic daugther can’t so i know…..Small affordable studio units would help many people in dignity….

Just a trick….I use my credit card but I pay back as soon as I get home…I use the credit card because of the points they give, with the points I can redeem gifts cards from various places I buy my regular stuffs so, I get free stuffs that I need…so the credit company pay me instead of me paying them…😂

One of the problem in Canada is when you earn a 70 000$ year salary you don’t have a 70 000$ salary…the gouvernement takes 50% of it in federal taxes income, provincial taxes income, retirement benefits provision participation , health care and health unemployment benefits participation, so you are earning 35 000$ net year salary…not the same ….in Quebec province addition that we have to pay 15% taxes on consommation products and services…so we are in deep shit with the increase of rents and products…low and middle class are in big trouble…the greed of the powerful is going to make us crash if nothing change…and it is happening everywhere.

@jericherry3374 that yes, but greed can happen because they find clients who will pay, the minute the clients don’t buy or rent the owners/landlords will lower their prices and be less greedy to be able to compete against each other to have the clients….

My credit card is paying me to use it…my card is giving points that you can buy gift cards for many stores, including groceries stores….so…my credit cards buys me groceries 😂….the way I make that happens is I use my credit card but I pay it back immediately after online…than I get points…after I have enough I claim gift cards…than I receive those I the mail…so maybe check if you can have same advantage in some credit card companies in your country, I am in Canada.

We need to control the rentals and housings greed…it is not normal that a house is selling for double the price they paid just 3-4 years ago…and rentals that are overpriced because of the demand versus availability….we need to start building small but affordable rentals to increase the number of units available, once done the market will naturally recover, always keep in mind, the demand versus availability, with more units the the demand will lower the prices because competition of the landlords to have the tenants…

The major problem is the greed of the banks,exemple…you buy a house at 250 000$ at 6,49% interest amortization 25 years…during a period of 5 years you paid 23 891,33 $ in capital, 76 491,35 $ in interests, for a total of 100 382,68 $…. After 5 years you still have a mortgage to refinance of 226 108,67$…(exemple in Canadian but you can calculate in US)…my best advise is if you want to buy, save money ahead to put in a big cash down paiement because all you give at first when buying will go directly in capital no interest.

@ashishpatel350 ..my reason to not buy a condo is Hoa fees and other problems with the way it’s managed, there aren’t any regulations to protect the owners….not because I have high standards…most of the people I talk to are thinking the same, they don’t want to be fooled so they are scared to buy condos…

The choice that was made already by generations way before now is to have less children, the birth rate is low and it’s not new…when a species is put to stress or sense danger or struggle it’s the birth rate that is affected…humans are not different…so in the future we will see couples with one or no kids and it will be the norm…also more people per houses and rentals because of 2-3 generations living together or friends sharing a unit….renters don’t like that but with the price they ask people won’t have a choice, the rental prices are delusional in proportion of the salary the people make.

100 000$ annual salary should be good but…in Quebec Canada, federal and provincial income taxes want their piece…so 49% is gone…so half is gone….with that 15% sales taxes …and mortgage loans interest…then insurances, driver permit, and cars licence and taxes on gasoline that makes the prices to high……leave you with some $ to eat…and that’s it if your lucky….so problems are here to, good luck everyone.
