I am a gen X, I struggled because my gen came after gen boomers, I couldn’t afford a house so we bought a land and we built a house (no contractor)…and I know hardship so I paid for my 2 kids for school so they have no student loans and because my house is paid off I help pay my kids apartments so they can be in a better position to face life today…I prefer giving them now then put money in the bank to give them when I will die, they still will have the money of my house so…they need more now then they will later in life….i am not rich but I had anticipated that coming so I did the best I could for my kids …I could go on trips but will I enjoy it knowing my kids struggle?…no..so if you are a parent and have no debt, the best you can do for your kids is to pay or help pay student fees.

My adult kids plan of having NO children, to be able to live a decent life…..and many of the younger generations have the same plan or having just one….what I see in this situation is similar to animals, when stress or in rarity of supply they don’t reproduce or less reproduce….so we are in the same situation and it’s no new, I only had 2 for the same reason, we managed but not rich retirement…😢
