Id be willing to bet the farm that Fnideq is related to Phoenicians. Ceuta was once known as Abyla (Punic). Romans erased much of the history of the Phoenicians with the help of another well known group of people, but that was all once Fenike or Phoenike territory and the sea was called "The Hibernian Sea". Guess where the new Hibernian Sea is now. The Romans renamed that sea to "Mare Nostrum" or "Our Sea" but will never rename the new one.

Guess who controlled the gates of Hercules so nobody else could get out of the Med for maybe a thousand years? Its where the mermaid myths began, the Phoenicians made stories up to spook anyone going into the open ocean. Of course you probably hear nothing of them at all there-that isnt for no reason. When you study what happened there for so many years and who it was and where they went and all this is deliberately left out of history you have to scratch your head in wonder.
