@David0lyle None of them were reliable. You are projecting modern world morality onto savage Japanese pre-American defeat. Training a peasant for 2 weeks to shoot one or 2 Samurai or a Knight in Europe with a musket that will explode in is hands was perfectly acceptable in those periods. Even Patton in his book described match lock rifles killing the shooter at a ceremony in Tunisia.

@BlueRidgeBarbarian Nothing terrible is happening to Native Americans. They were always savage raiders and thieves. These pilgrims were simply seeking religious freedom and were many times attacked by savage tribes while trading and working with other ones.
