  1. If you look at the procurement data the Super Hornet is $95mil gross cost while the F-35A was $140mil in 2015 and has now fallen to $85mil. The F-35A is the best bang for buck as it is the F-16s successor as NATOs newest and best all around workhorse. The USN and USAF put out detailed budget overviews.

  2.  @Fuhrerjehova  Well the F-35A is essentially NATO's fighter. The Gripen will keep Sweden's military aerospace sector alive. If they give up their fighter jet their knowledge will be lost and it will be nearly impossible to get it back decades later.

  5. ​ @patlab555  You mean in a WVE dogfight? A skilled pilot can down any other aircraft in a WVR fight. The F-22 will have all of the advantages in a real war, there is no "exercise" where to get to square off in a WVR fight 😂

According to the House of Commons minutes for the F-35 project in the UK, the RAF had stated the Typhoon was $160mil each and a politician asked why shouldn't the government just replace the Typhoon with the F-35A. The RAFs response was that the Typhoon was operational and the F-35A was not operational yet.

  11.  @usslexingtoncva-1639  The Navy lost some throw weight when they got rid of the S-3 and A-6 but added more when they went all Super Hornet. It was a cost cutting measure but the Navy is finally picking up stealth aircraft.
