Since 2006 I have defended this aircraft from all of the anti-American types on social media that were too lazy and ignorant to even read or find the USAF Budget overviews showing this aircraft's gross costs. The US Air Force does not hire dummies and Lockheed isn't some European company cutting corners or some commie bureau in China. Next time shut up and get out of the USAF's way, thanks.

@AnotherSpaceCowBoy Keep your warehouse job guy, you know jack about the USAF or it's aircraft.

@PrograError If any of you civilians have ever worked as a Crew Chief or a specialist in the last 25 years you know the F-14 and F-4 were More complex with analog gauges that required constant calibration and manual control. I saw newer aircraft showing up on base in the early to mid 2000s and even refueling was easier as you can put in how many pounds of fuel you want while these older aircraft are switches and a float gauge and if you don't pay close attention you can spend hours defueling with a gravity feed. With the new sensors through flights, and post flights sew a breeze which is untrue with the old aircraft. I have also seen the F-14 on USAF bases traveling through and would tow it in the hangar, it was an extremely leaky POS. Civilian warehouse workers and kids living at home should type less and conduct more research.

That is because it is built by Americans. Foreigners are always surprised when Americans can easily put out things like this at costs most can afford.

@ashleygoggs5679 Maintenance costs are tied into manhours and parts costs. The new aircraft require less man hours to get back into the air(once maintainers are experienced) . I was a USAF Crew Chief on C-130E, H, and was part of the J program in the early to mid 2000s. All of these new aircraft are less complex or the same mechanically while the electronics are more powerful not more complex. As time goes on maintainers get better at refining the maintenence through experience which breeds efficiency. Not only they but the USAF maintains TCTO programs that involve aircraft manufacturers and repairs as unknown defects are found as the air frame ages. This find and fix program is also sent to our allies and vice versa so even as the aircraft ages maintenance costs through manhours and correcting deficienes are reduced. There are a lot of moving parts with gross costs, training costs, maintainer experience, and efficiency/defiency programs. The people behind this stuff are not gender studies majors, they are result oriented people.
