  1. Musk seems intelligent when it comes to engineering but he underestimates people. Civilization is far older than 5000 years as there are serious structures much older than 5000 years. That being said the planet has had cataclysmic events that could easily set humans back thousands of years. When the Western Empire fell much knowledge was lost even in lands the Romans controlled for 400 years leaving structures that Western Europeans couldn't reproduce or repair for many hundreds of years and it wasn't until the Crusades until technology, books, and knowledge transferred from the Eastern Roman empire to the West in Europe.
