If a person can be motivated to be productive that benefits many people rather than just a few that is a win-win in society. The United States has allowed a lot of freedom in it's past especially through capitalism and the entire world has benefited. Unfortunately most people don't understand human behavior and get caught up in unrealistic ideology that leans on government to control people quickly turning into a tyranny making you poorer and slowing progress. For example if a researcher works 80hrs a week and finds the cure for cancer and his motivation is money and sex well who cares because now you and your family are now benefiting due to his "greed".
