The US has very little defensive hardware. America is the undisputed champ of logistics. No country on Earth can come close to projecting global power and most countries can't get an army over the water if their lives depended on it. Why be defensive when you can go on the attack in their backyard. Ukraine was "defensive" and now look at their cities on Google images.

How exactly does Russia and China get to American cities conventionally? They can't project forces at all just like most of our allies can't. Any conventional war against the United States we fight in their backyard not in America's backyard. The actual question is how will Russian and Chinese cities look when we are done?

I was in the USAF for 10 years and all of my family is in the US Navy near retirement or already retired. Something like Ukraine is nothing for mission readiness as we have forces such as Green Berets, all kinds of trainers from our armed forces, and tons of ex-military contractors ready and able to work and arm Ukraine against a backwater like Russia. Arming and training people to kill bad guys is an American military past time. Unfortunately we get too many Democrats elected and they pull the rug out for no reason allowing dictatorships to gain control of entire countries and have the audacity to blame the military as if they surrendered on a battle ship or something.

@theoafman9068 Unfortunately liberals in Ukraine were too ignorant and arrogant to think Russia would never invade. American Democrats were too incompetent to prevent the war and when Ukrainians showed a bit of backbone suddenly the Democrats wanted a proxy war on the backs of Ukraine's families. Countries like Germany were funding the Russian military at the same time showing incredibly weakness in the face of Russian aggression. Overall this is a Western leftist ideology problem where they always show naivete and weakness inviting invasions and terrorism.

@HondoTrailside As an American veteran it is you civilians that misunderstand Russia, Vietnam, and Cuba. The US military knows how to defeat all of these countries and quickly. You seem to confuse the civilian career politicians for American military capability. Cuba is nothing and could be removed in a week by American forces. China could be brought to it's knees next week by the US Navy. Vietnam would have been easily defeated if he US Army and USAF got it's way in planning in 1965. Unfortunately for the free world and America we have very weak career politicians especially among Democrats such as Truman, Kennedy, Johnson, Clinton, Obama, and now Biden. A dictators best friend is a Democrat politician not the US military which is 90% run by conservatives.

As far as things military he has a good advisor because I come from a long military family and most of the civilians on YouTube foreign and domestic are complete couch surfer civilians that know zero about things military and are completely unaware of the unmatched power of the United States especially when we don't have a weak Democrat president in charge.

Currently they go to a high altitude which makes them easy to detect then come down to earth at a high rate of speed. The Patriot system was part of the SDI project the Democrats mocked as "Star Wars". It's designed to down ballistic missiles which can be entering through orbit are "hyper sonic". The stealthy cruise missile that skims the Earth is more dangerous. Naturally the USAF has some ideas on the shelf to make a proper hypersonic weapon and being used with cruise missile technology might be quite effective.
