  2. Easy, post WW2 Americans have subsidized the world and now we are tired of it. In the 1990s Republicans and Democrats got greedy and decided to trade with dictators arguing their people would become capitalists and form liberal democracies. What we got was America funding fascist regimes in Russia and China, Americans are also tired of that.
